Couch to 5k

 

 

Who is it aimed at?

Both the Ladies and Men's C25K Groups are aimed at Adults (over 18's only) who have either never run before, are coming back to running after a long break or just don't feel confident enough to start training at one of the Club's other sessions.

 

 

Where is it?

The Ladies Group meets at 7pm on a Monday evening and the Men's Group at 7:30pm on a Wednesday night. Both groups meet at Plascrug Leisure Centre.

What happens at the end of the 12 weeks?

By the end of the 12 weeks you should be at a level where you can join the Club's Training Sessions. If you don't want to join the main sessions then you are welcome to start the next 12 week C25K block again, but you will go back right to the start to accommodate the new starters.

 

How does the group progress?
During the 12 week period we will start off with a very simple jog/walk progression. As the sessions progress, there will more running less walking up to the point where you should be able to run 5K without stopping.
The progression will be even with no sudden jumps, so there will be no nasty surprises.

 

What does it cost?

There is no cost per session, but we do require you to take a social membership with Aberystwyth Athletics Club at a cost of £15, this is for insurance purposes.

You are welcome to "Try before you buy" a couple of session to see if you like it before taking out membership.
